Snoop Dogg told Jimmy Fallon on Saturday night that he really wants to do a remix of “Bye Bye Birdie” with Ann-Margaret.

A few years ago that would have come as a shocker to us, but since Snoop has fostered friendships with the likes of Martha Stewart,even baked on her show, rapped with astronaut Buzz Aldrin and teamed up with Katy Perry for  the very non-gangsta song, California Gurls–not so much.

The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse has announced open auditions for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, BYE, BYE BIRDIE.

Auditions will be held Monday, September 13, 2010 from noon to 7pm at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 5:30pm. Auditions are by appointment only and can be made by calling the Box Office at 970-744-3747. BYE, BYE BIRDIE will open January 21, 2011 and run through March 20, 2011. Performances are Thursday through Saturday nights and Sunday matinees. Additional performances may be added.

Looking for experienced adult and teen actors with strong singing ability and dance experience. Roles will be cast age appropriate. All roles are available. All roles non-equity. All roles paid.

Actors should bring headshot and resume and prepare 16-32 bars of an up tempo musical theater piece in the style of the show as well as a ballad. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. No a capella or recorded music. Dance call will be held at callbacks. Rehearsals will begin approximately January 3, 2011 with rehearsal times to be determined.

ADULT ROLES:
Albert Peterson (Baritone, plays 28-38, dance, pratfalls) Strong acting, good voice needed.
Rosie Alvarez (Alto, plays 25-35) A true “triple-theat” role. Strong acting, singing and dancing needed.
Conrad Birdie (Baritone, plays 21-30, dance) Elvislike. Strong ‘pop’ voice. Dancing is required but not difficult.
Mr. Harry MacAfee (Baritone, Comedic, plays 40-55) A comedic role. Singing is required but is not difficult.
Mrs. Doris MacAfee (Mezzo, plays 40-50) Singing is required but is not difficult.
Mae Peterson (Alto, Comedic, plays 50-75) Strong acting and good comic timing.
Adult Ensemble (4 men, 4 women, plays 26-40) Covers several featured chorus roles. Dancing is required but not difficult.
CROSSOVER ROLES (will consider both high school teens and adults):
Kim MacAfee (Soprano/Mezzo, plays 15, high A) Strong acting and singing, group dancing.
Hugo Peabody (Non-Singing role, plays15-18) May double into teen chorus as tenor or baritone.
TEEN ROLES:
Randolph (Tenor, plays 10-13) Singing is required but is not difficult. Will audition 10-16 year old boys only.
Teen Ensemble (4 boys, 4 girls, plays 15-18) Covers several featured chorus roles. Strong singing and dancing skills needed

WINDER — A portion of proceeds from Winder-Barrow Community Theatre’s recent production of “Bye Bye Birdie” will go toward purchasing books and other supplies for the Winder Library.

As part of a continuing effort to share profits with other nonprofit organizations within the Barrow County community, theater president Tery Overbey recently presented a check to Alan Harkness, director of the Winder Library.

Theatre audiences know Kate Pazakis from Jerry Springer The Opera at Carnegie Hall, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, A Broadway Diva Christmas, Newsical, and The Sexless Years.  Every Friday night at The Duplex in NYC, Kate can be found co-hosting Mostly Sondheim, a weekly event celebrating musical theatre with the best of Broadway.  Kate just released her debut album entitled “Unzipped: Live at The Zipper” which is available at iTunes, PS Classics, and Amazon.com.  Kate was recently seen on the silver  screen in “The Big Gay Musical.”

Megan Reinking was recently seen on Broadway in Hair, Lestat, Dracula The Musical, and Bye Bye Birdie.  She recently returned to NYC from her appearance in the West End production of Hair.  This Fall, Megan will be making her television debut in “Boardwalk Empire” on HBO.

Robert Schimmel photos and videos are a top Google trend after the stand-up comedian died Friday, September 3 from injuries he suffered in a recent accident. Schimmel, 60, was known for his guest spots on Howard Stern’s radio show and appeared frequently on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien.’ 

Many of Schimmel’s stand-up comedy routines are being viewed on YouTube after word of his death spread on the web. See one of Schimmel’s classics, “The Pool” below.

Funeral arrangements are still not confirmed, although an update to his Facebook page on Saturday, September 5 states: ”Funeral arrangements pending. Robert’s family keeping you up to date on FB & twitter.

Schimmel’s 19-year-old daughter, Aliyah, was reportedly driving the car on August 26 when it rolled to the side of the freeway to avoid another car. She is hospitalized in stable condition in Phoenix. His 11-year-old son was also in the car but not injured.

Schimmel’s Facebook page, with over 4600 fans, has condolences streaming in since news of his death hit the media. Two days after his accident, his Facebook page status said, “The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated. Stay tuned!” On Saturday, September 4, the status was changed to: If you’ve got a funny, interesting, or motivational story to share about Robert Schimmel, now’s your chance to share it with the world.”

Aside from his frequent appearances on Howard Stern and Conan O’Brien’s shows, Schimmel put out several comedy albums, including: Comes Clean, If You Buy this CD, I Can Get this Car, Unprotected, Reserection, and Life Since Then. 

In June 2000, comedian Robert Schimmel was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He wrote a memoir in 2008, “Cancer on $5 a Day,” chronicling his battle with cancer.

The 60 year old comic passed away on Friday, days after being in a severe car accident with his daughter, Aliyah, and his 11-year-old son. While at the wheel, Aliyah tried to avoid a collision, and accidentally flipped the car several times. Although both of the youngsters are alive, their father could not hold on any longer.

Since his death, the search item “Robert Schimmel photo” has gone up, and is topping Google searches at the moment. In fact, the website Jacktimes claimed that they had a picture of him right after the accident, yet they couldn’t post it because “the content is really disturbing”

That kind of Robert Schimmel photo would obviously be very disturbing, given the context. At the least, Jacktimes appeared to show some actual restraint with it – if they indeed had a picture. But this has helped other blogs and Internet users increase their efforts to find one of their own.

This type of search may be unsettling, but it is nothing new online. Every time someone famous dies, bloggers and tabloids search for images of the deceased’s dead body, or of the body right before death. Since the Robert Schimmel photo regards the aftermath of a car accident, the curiosity factor is even higher.

While this is how the Internet mourns someone’s death, others are being more tactful in honoring Schimmel and his career. He had gotten a cult following for his appearances on Howard Stern, and his self-deprecating HBO specials. Schimmel had already survived various health problems, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and a heart attack, and endured losing a son to leukemia.

Comedian Robert Schimmel tragically lost his life in a car accident on Friday, he was 60 years old.  Today, many people have turned only to seek the Robert Schimmel photo.  There are some sites saying that there is a photo form the accident, but it appears to be just a rumor.

Schimmel was in company of his son and daughter, who was driving the car, when suddenly in an attempt to avoid an oncoming car, the car flipped several times. His son ended up unarmed, while his daughter is recovering on the hospital.

Robert Schimmel will be best remembered for his particular brand of comedy that was featured on “the Howard Stern Show”.
